PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY LONDON:
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

When choosing a product photographer in London, ensure to check the following:

- Does the photographer keep all the photos?
If a professional photographer is proud of his/her work, he will have a mechanism in place to keep all the digital negatives and photographs from the photoshoot. There are some cheaper photographers who will give away the photos (or "digital negatives") to you, the customer. Be careful of these offers, most decent photographers will be afraid to hand over all the originals from any photoshoot, because they will want to retouch any images before they reach any public viewing. Always check this and ensure the photographer you're using is proud of his work.

- Price
Never choose product photographer based on the lowest price. Check the price of any photographer against the quality of their photographs. Some photographers are over-priced, and some are under-priced. Quite often, very cheap photographers will reflect in the quality of their work. Try to take advantage of any seasoned special offers, but always check the photographer's "normal" price, and work, first. A photographer with a special offer of £5 per product with "normal price: £10" is not likely to achieve great results, but always check the results on their photo gallery.

-Quality
Look out for product photography that just looks like passport photographs. These are unlikely to stand out when being viewed with hundreds of other products. The key to product photography is to make the product look desirable.

- Judge on a photographer's gallery!
Word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of promotion for photographers. Either way, check the photographers' portfolio, and see if you like the work before you decide.

- What's included in the session?
Don't forget to check what's included in the session - prices vary, but the average in London for a decent product photographer, is £25 per image, with a minimum order of £100. Check that the photographer can do re-touching as this can make the difference between a fantastic photograph and a failed one. The price varies depending on the individual photographer and the quality of their work. Cheaper photographers will likely spend less time on their work, and so will charge accordingly.
